Ive read that it has worse matchmaking than other tier 7's, is this true? And also that the upper glacis is a shot trap into the turret, do they even exist in WoT and if so, how much of a problem would it be?

you have to grind it anyway to get to the IS3 so just embrace it and have fun, try not to think about it's flaws. I think you will like it I liked it. but as DW said its not the best tier 7 heavy

it's not bad as a heavy, i still have it in my garage... within the tier it is just about accurate enough to hit quite a few weak spots of other tier 7 heavies and learning the armour layout can help you get alot more ricochets

Personally I like the IS more than I like the KV-1S as it feels like it actually has armour, sidescraping is effective in it and gun is accurate enough.
